Product Development Grant Program

The Product Development Grant Program (PDGP) is designed to assist communities and organizations to develop tourism product that will encourage visitors to travel to South Carolina. Developing, implementing, and maintaining a successful tourism product is a long-term, complex and expensive process. Some communities and organizations need assistance in planning and determining the feasibility of projects, while others have completed the planning phase and need help with the actual implementation of a project. The product development grants described below will assist eligible applicants with the creation of viable tourism product that will add value to their communities and regions and bring visitors to South Carolina.

Planning Grant

This grant provides funding to communities and organizations that want to develop a tourism project in keeping with their Product Development Area Plan or County or Regional Tourism Plan and in line with the SC Tourism Action Plan (TAP). Funds may be used for soft costs such as feasibility, engineering or architectural studies or other preliminary planning necessary to determine if a project is viable prior to the start of actual construction. 

Product Development Grant

This grant provides funding for the construction of specific projects that are well planned and meet the tourism development goals of the Product Development Area Plan or County or Regional Tourism Plan and the SC Tourism Action Plan. Funds may be used for acquisition, engineering and hard costs associated with the building of a tourism project.
