South Carolina Roads:

The state has an exceptional network of roads and highways. Over 800 miles of interstate highways provide easy access throughout the state. The South Carolina Department of Transportation does an excellent job maintaining these crucial routes. They include:

 

  •  I-20 East/West

Florence, SC; Columbia, SC; Atlanta, GA; Birmingham, AL; Jackson, MS; Shreveport, LA; Dallas/Fort-Worth, TX

 

  • I-26 East/West

Charleston, SC; Columbia, SC; Spartanburg, SC; Asheville, NC

 

·         I-73/74 North/South (Expected Completion: 2012)

Lansing, MI; Columbus, OH; Huntington, WV; Roanoke, VA; Greensboro, NC; Myrtle Beach, SC

 

  • I-77 North/South

Cleveland, OH; Charleston, WV; Charlotte, NC; Columbia, SC

 

  • I-85 North/South

Petersburg, VA; Raleigh/Durham, NC; Charlotte, NC; Greenville, SC; Atlanta, GA; Montgomery, AL

 

  • I-95 North/South

Along the entire eastern seaboard

 

Airports:

Six commercial airports are located in South Carolina in the cities of Greenville/Spartanburg (GSP); Columbia (CAE); Florence (FLO); Myrtle Beach (MYR); Charleston (CHS); and Hilton Head (HHH). Three additional airports are located just over the state line in Charlotte, NC (CLT); Augusta, GA (ATL) and Savannah, GA (SAV). Generally speaking, an airport is located within an hour drive of anywhere in South Carolina.
