National Travel & Tourism Week
Established in 1983, National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) is an annual tradition to celebrate the US travel community and travel’s essential role in stimulating economic growth, cultivating vibrant communities, creating quality job opportunities, inspiring new businesses, and elevating the quality of life for Americans every day.
Join us May 3-9, 2026, to celebrate NTTW’s 43rd anniversary.

How to Get Involved:
In honor of the 43rd anniversary of National Travel & Tourism Week, we're encouraging every corner of the state to join the celebration. Get creative, have fun, and celebrate the incredible impact travel has on South Carolina’s economy and quality of life – here are a few suggestions to help you get started.
- Proclaim it. Work with your local government to issue a destination-specific proclamation for NTTW. Announce the proclamation at a press event to help spread the word.
- Share statistics. Use a press release and social media posts to showcase the tangible impact of tourism in your area, highlighting how tourism jobs and businesses enhance the local economy.
- Inspire travel. Encourage visitors and South Carolinians to #DiscoverSC! Create itineraries that inspire visitors to come to your destinations and that entice locals to enjoy all the fun available in their backyards.
- Spotlight visitors. Find a visitor of the day and share their photo and testimonial on social media.
- Organize giveaways. Work with local businesses and attractions to give away experiences and gift cards to encourage visitors to explore your destinations.
- Stay festive. Highlight local events and the impact they have on the region – from holiday festivals to sporting events, and everything in between. Use social posts to remind visitors to “save the date” for upcoming events and to recap the economic and community impact of past events.
- Recognize excellence. Showcase the local hospitality businesses, employees, and attractions that fuel our industry by sharing photos and stories on social media.
- Recruit talent. Grow our teams by promoting career opportunities in the industry on social media, highlighting the opportunities for growth, variety of positions, and everything that makes our industry special.
- Connect locally. Throw out the first pitch for your local minor league baseball team, set up a booth at your local farmers market, or participate in other events in town throughout the week to celebrate NTTW and the impact of tourism on your community.
Celebrate with us in person at a South Carolina Welcome Center!
- Attractions, accommodations, and other tourism-related businesses are invited to our nine South Carolina Welcome Centers to celebrate NTTW. It is free to participate in this fun recognition week that honors travelers and thanks them for visiting South Carolina.
- Contact the Welcome Center you want to partner with to share your plans and reserve your spot. Due to construction, Blacksburg and Fair Play will not participate in NTTW celebrations this year.
- Please note that state law prohibits the sale of any items on this property. Partners are welcome to provide free food and giveaways, set up exhibits and games, and have fun while helping visitors discover all there is to offer in South Carolina.
- The festivities are primarily outdoors, so please dress comfortably and bring your own table, chairs, and tents
