State Parks Website Wins National Award

October 22, 2018

Columbia – The new website for South Carolina’s state parks was given a “Where the Magic Really Happens” eTSY award for best destination website in the nation during a tourism conference this month. The award was part of the annual eTourism Summit, a gathering of professionals who explore best practices in digital tourism marketing and celebrate top initiatives.

At www.SouthCarolinaParks.com, the website packs a load of information and detail into an easy-to-navigate design, using bold colors and trendy tiling to appeal to browsers. From the website, visitors can plan trips to South Carolina’s 47 state parks, register for programs, find discounts and specials, learn more about the people behind parks and connect via social media. The design helps illustrate the depth and complexity of South Carolina’s state parks – which offer cultural discovery, natural beauty and recreational abundance.

Since it launched in October 2017, the website attracted more than 3 million visitors. They browsed, on average, more than three pages per session and stayed on the site for more three minutes.  About half of the website’s 4.5 million sessions was organic, meaning browsers found SouthCarolinaParks.com through search engines.

The award was one of 13 presented at the summit’s first award program. For more information about the eTourism Summit, visit www.etourismsummit.com/about-us/.
