Amanda Werts

Amanda Werts submitted her first grant proposal in 2002 as an undergraduate social work student at Winthrop University. After her proposal was funded and she was hired to implement the project, grant-related work became part of her graduate assistantship and 21-year career. Amanda’s grant-related work has spanned healthcare, education, nonprofit, and municipal government. Her passion, regardless of the setting, is empowering people to thrive.

Amanda came to work for the City of Rock Hill’s Grants Division in 2015 and eight months later became the Division supervisor. During that time, Amanda has led a growing team that secures an average of $25 million annually in grant funding to support projects across the City’s 18 departments. Individually, Amanda has secured over $26 million in funding from state, federal, and private sources in the areas of parks, recreation, and tourism, economic development, hazard mitigation, stormwater, transportation, public safety, and historic preservation.

Prior to working at the City of Rock Hill, Amanda had never written a grant application for parks, recreation, and tourism (PRT). To date, she has secured and managed over $4.5 million in PRT grant awards for the City of Rock Hill.
